In this role, you will contribute to developing, prototyping, and characterizing next-generation quantum sensors based on cold atoms, NV centers, photonic systems, superconducting devices, or solid-state quantum materials.This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to work at the intersection of quantum device engineering, precision measurement science, optics, material physics, and embedded hardware. You will support system design, experimental setup, data acquisition, modeling, and validation of quantum sensing platforms.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in the design and development of quantum sensing architectures (magnetometers, gravimeters, gyroscopes, atomic clocks, NV-center sensors, photonic sensors, etc.).Set up and perform experiments involving lasers, optical instrumentation, RF systems, vacuum chambers, cryogenic systems, or quantum materials.Characterize sensor performance metrics such as sensitivity, stability, coherence times, noise levels, and response bandwidth.Develop calibration and measurement protocols to evaluate device performance in laboratory conditions.Support the assembly, alignment, and testing of quantum sensing subsystems (optical benches, microwave setups, vacuum components).Perform simulation or modeling of device behavior using electromagnetic, optical, or atomic physics tools.Automate experiment control, data acquisition, and analysis using Python or MATLAB.Document experiments, system diagrams, and results for cross-team collaboration.Required QualificationsMaster’s or Ph.D. in Physics, Photonics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Quantum Engineering, or a related field.Understanding of quantum sensing principles (spin physics, atomic transitions, interferometry, magnetometry, or precision measurement theory).Hands-on experience with optical laboratories, laser systems, alignment, RF instrumentation, or sensor measurement setups.Familiarity with experimental techniques such as lock-in detection, frequency stabilization, noise characterization, or atomic spectroscopy.Strong analytical, experimental, and communication skills.Required SkillsExperience with optical components (mirrors, lenses, beam splitters, AOMs, EOMs, waveplates) and laser-based experiments.Knowledge of atomic/solid-state quantum systems such as NV centers, cold atoms, trapped ions, or superconducting devices.Familiarity with vacuum systems, magnetic shielding, stabilization techniques, or cryogenic components.Proficiency with scientific simulation tools (COMSOL, Lumerical, QuTiP, or atomic physics modeling libraries).Experience with hardware control and data acquisition using Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or C/C++.Ability to work closely with quantum physicists, electronics engineers, optics engineers, and system architects.Strong documentation skills for reproducible research and engineering workflows.Preferred QualificationsExperience with building or characterizing quantum magnetometers, atomic clocks, gravimeters, or NV-center devices.Knowledge of precision measurement techniques: Ramsey spectroscopy, spin-echo, Rabi oscillations, photon-counting, or interferometry.Prior exposure to coherent control systems, microwave electronics, or frequency reference instrumentation.Background in quantum-enhanced sensing, metrology, or solid-state quantum devices.Experience working in fast-paced research labs, cryogenic labs, photonics labs, or quantum hardware startups.What We OfferOpportunity to work on cutting-edge quantum sensors with real-world applications in navigation, security, imaging, and precision measurement.Collaboration with leading experts in quantum physics, optics, electronics, materials, and advanced engineering.Competitive compensation and strong career growth prospects in the rapidly emerging quantum devices industry.Hands-on exposure to full-stack quantum sensor development—from theory to prototyping to experimental validation.How to ApplySend your CV, Cover Letter, and relevant Portfolio or Publications to: careers@Subject line: R&D Intern – Quantum Sensors Engineering – Your NameAbout Our CultureQuinfosys believes in fostering innovation through diversity, inclusion, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
