Job Description

Role Purpose: T he Assistant Manager – Payroll will be responsible for end-to-end payroll management for India, ensuring timely and accurate processing of employee salaries, statutory compliance with Indian labor and tax regulations, and payroll-related reporting. The role requires strong attention to detail, thorough knowledge of Indian statutory laws, and effective coordination with multiple stakeholders to maintain payroll accuracy and compliance. Key Responsibilities: Manage monthly payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Validate and reconcile inputs such as attendance, leave records, new joiners, exits, salary revisions, and variable pay. Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements (PF, ESI, PT, TDS, gratuity and other applicable labor laws). Handle employee queries related to salary, taxation, and payroll policies. Prepare payroll MIS, reports, and analytics for management review. Stay updated on changes in labor laws, taxation, and statutory compliance. Support process automation, audits, and continuous improvement in payroll systems. Education: Graduate/Postgraduate in Commerce, Finance, or HR. MBA/PGDM or CMA/ CA Experience: 7-10 years of payroll management experience (India payroll). Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of payroll systems (SAP, ADP etc.). Proficiency in MS Excel (advanced formulas, reconciliations). Knowledge of income tax and statutory compliance. Behavioural Skills: High attention to detail and accuracy. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
