Project Associate – Green Mobility Zone Implementation Organization: Raahgiri Foundation Location: Gurugram/ Mathura, UP Experience: 2+ years About the Role We are searching for a motivated and passionate Project Associate to join our team working on implementing road safety, green mobility and low emission zones towards healthy, vibrant liveable urban spaces in Indian cities. In this role, you will play a vital role in managing, supporting, and developing strategies for cities to mitigate the adverse effects of urbanization in cities, through policy frameworks, design reviews and viable proposal development. Responsibilities Enabling Low Emission Zones in Mathura and Vrindavan · Develop and operationalize a Low Emission Zone (LEZ) framework tailored for Mathura. · Conduct baseline assessment of vehicular and industrial emissions in the city. · Identify vehicle categories, emission thresholds, and compliance strategies for the LEZ. · Propose monitoring mechanisms (including use of Vahan data, ANPR, on-ground enforcement). · Assess and recommend sustainable mobility solutions: EV adoption pathways, public transport electrification, NMT (non-motorized transport) integration, and multimodal connectivity. · Support roadmap preparation for EV integration across municipal transport operations (buses, freight, paratransit). · Propose policies for encouraging clean fuels, scrappage of end-of-life vehicles, and charging infrastructure development. · Work with municipal corporation, UPPCB (Pollution Control Board), RTO, traffic police, and state EV cell. · Conduct consultations with local businesses, citizen groups, and transport operators to ensure smooth LEZ implementation. · Support awareness and capacity-building activities. Road Safety, Placemaking, Streetscaping and Capacity Building: ● Design Analysis and Project Development: Understand site specific urban challenges and create or support viable design strategies and proposals for their resolution. ● Tactical Urbanism: Collaborates with the team to implement temporary design changes (tactical urbanism trials) to test improvements and gather feedback. ● Training and Development: Conducts internal and external workshops to raise awareness and build capacity on street design and road safety principles. ● Reporting and Communication: Prepares regular progress reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly) for donors, summarizing program activities and achievements. ● Creative Development: Creates visual aids like posters and presentations for training programs and community engagement initiatives. Community Engagement and Outreach: ● Raahgiri Days: Assists the team in organizing Raahgiri Days and other public awareness campaigns that promote street design for improved sustainability, safety and community interaction. Qualifications Master’s degree in environmental science, Urban Planning or Design and/or allied disciplines. Proven experience working on urban spatial and/ or environmental issues, preferably in air pollution control, EV policy integration and urban design. Understanding of urban mobility challenges and policies. Excellent research, data analysis, and communication skills. Ability to work independently in a remote location, and as part of a team. Strong organizational and time management skills. Responsiveness to stakeholder needs and requirements. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and data analysis tools (e.g., ArcGIS, R). Hindi and English fluency is a must. Desirable Skills Experience working on green mobility, LEZ projects, or similar, in India or abroad. Knowledge of government policies and regulations related to urban design, air quality and transportation. 3. Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (CAFE, BS-VI emission norms, NCAP, FAME). Experience in stakeholder engagement and public outreach. Experience with GIS mapping and data visualization tools.
